Quality Assurance at Castle Rising Dental Surgery

1 – We aim to provide dental care of a consistent high quality for all of our patients

We have systems in place to help achieve that aim. These systems define each staff member’s duties and responsibilities when looking after you.

2 – When we propose treatment we will take account of your wishes

We will explain all options and costs to allow you to make an informed choice as to how you wish to proceed. We will always explain what we are doing.

3 – We will do all we can to look after your general health

We will ask questions about your general health and any medication you may be taking, this information will be updated at each visit. This allows us to treat you safely and modify treatment if necessary. All information about you is strictly confidential.

4 – Contamination and cross-infection control is an important part of our practice and essential to the safety of patients and staff

Every practice member receives regular training in cross-infection control. We are fully compliant with new Department of Health guidelines. We have a policy of using as many single-use items as possible and we are always looking to increase the number of such items, always with patient safety in mind.

5 – We screen all patients for mouth cancer at routine check-ups as part of our normal examination

Information regarding alcohol and tobacco use is important because these substances are known to increase the risk of mouth and throat cancer.

6 – We have regular monthly staff meetings where we review practice working methods and make changes as necessary

We encourage all staff to make suggestions for improving the care we offer to patients

7 – We regularly ask patients for their views on our services and are happy to receive all feedback

We have systems for dealing promptly with patient complaints and for ensuring that lessons are learnt from any mistakes we may make.

8 – All staff in the practice take part in continuing professional development, meeting the General Dental Council’s requirements

We aim to keep up-to-date with current thinking on all aspects of general dentistry and to continue to update our existing skills and learn new skills which we can then offer to our patients to improve the care we offer. We are serious about promoting preventive care for all our patients to reduce your need for treatment.

9 – All staff joining the practice are given training in all practice procedures

Once a year we review training needs for each practice member.

10 – All members of the practice are aware of the need to ensure that all members of the practice team are working safely

In the unlikely event that a team member in this practice becomes unfit to safely carry out their duties we have systems in place to ensure that concerns are investigated and, if necessary, acted upon.
